Sylvain Benjamin and its current president, Jean-Paul Roy, founded Select Steel in 1997 under the name “Structure d'Acier Sélect.”

The enterprise originally concentrated on the installation of steel structures.

On the strength of their 15 to 20 years’ experience in their respective fields, the founders quickly landed major contracts to supply, manufacture and install steelwork.
In 1998, André Berger joined the founders. His own extensive experience in the steel industry was key to our manufacturing steelwork in our own factory.

Structure d'Acier Sélect became Select Steel Inc. in 2002. That same year, we relocated to a brand new 16,000 square-foot facility in the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu industrial park.
In 2003, Mario Lavoie came on board, bringing with him 30 years’ experience in steelwork installation.

In April 2008, André Berger left the company for health reasons just a few weeks before the expansion of the factory was completed. By the end of summer 2008, Select Steel doubled its factory’s surface area and equipped it with the latest technology.

In October 2008, the 14,300 square foot expansion was completed and the new Drill Line became operational. Since then, we have been producing about 200 tonnes per week.
